chocolate chip orange cookies

Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies

The flavor of these cookies was inspired by the break apart chocolate oranges that were popular in the 90’s. The cookies have both cocoa powder and chocolate chips for double chocolate flavor and the melted chocolate chips help create the ideal soft and gooey cookie.

The orange flavor is derived from orange zest as well as orange blossom water. Orange blossom water (also known as orange flower water) is a clear liquid made in the process of distillation of essential oils from fresh orange blossom. It smells like an orange grove in full bloom on a spring day. It’s very aromatic and floral in taste and adds the perfect subtle orange flavor to these cookies.

These cookies are best soft with a chewy center, however, if you prefer your cookies more crunchy, you can leave them in the oven for an extra two to three minutes. They store well in an airtight container at room temperate for six to seven days. They are delicious at room temperature or reheated in the oven or microwave.
